Communications Specialist at Close the Gap Kenya
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communication Planning:
- Develop and implement a long-term communication strategy aligned with Close the Gap’s strategic goals, ensuring consistency across all channels and platforms.
Content Creation and Management:
- Create compelling and engaging content tailored to different audiences, including donors, beneficiary projects, entrepreneurs, strategic partners, stakeholders, and the wider public. Oversee the content creation process, ensuring high quality and consistency.
Social Media Management:
- Lead the development and execution of social media campaigns
across various platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other relevant
channels. Monitor social media trends and engage with the online community.
Media Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets. Develop and
execute media relations strategies, including press releases, media pitches, and interviews.
Crisis Communication:
- Develop and implement crisis communication plans. Manage and respond to potential crises effectively and professionally.
Team Leadership:
- Coach and mentor a graphic designer and junior marketing associate, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
Brand Management:
- Protect and enhance the Close the Gap brand identity across all touchpoints.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Track and analyze communication metrics to measure performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Provide regular reports on campaign performance and ROI.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in mid-senior-level communications roles with a strong track record of success.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and analytics tools. Experience in managing and mentoring a team.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- A degree in communications, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
