Keldine & Co. LLP is seeking a highly motivated and commercially minded Accountant to support the delivery of accounting, tax, compliance, and finance automation services to clients. The role combines technical accounting expertise with client advisory and business development support.
The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of clients, oversee financial reporting and compliance obligations, support implementation of finance automation solutions, and act as a technical resource during business development engagements. They will work closely with prospects and clients to understand their business needs, provide practical financial insights, and demonstrate how Sofia’s solutions can improve compliance, visibility, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Maintain and review accurate accounting records for assigned clients
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Perform bank, receivables, payables, payroll, and tax reconciliations
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare and review VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Corporate Tax, and other statutory returns
- Ensure timely filing and payment of statutory obligations
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and guide clients and internal teams
- Advise clients on tax compliance requirements and best practices
Client Advisory & Relationship Management
- Manage relationships with assigned clients and serve as their primary finance contact
- Conduct periodic financial review meetings with clients
- Provide practical recommendations to improve financial performance, controls, and compliance
- Support client onboarding and implementation activities
Business Development Support
- Partner with the Business Development team during prospect engagements.
- Act as the technical accounting, tax, and compliance resource during sales meetings.
- Understand prospective client challenges and recommend appropriate Sofia solutions.
- Assist in preparing proposals, scopes of work, and service recommendations.
- Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling Sofia services to existing clients.
- Represent Sofia at networking events, industry forums, webinars, and client meetings.
Finance Automation & Systems
- Support implementation and optimization of accounting & tax technologies.
- Configure and maintain accounting & tax software according to the clients’ needs
- Support testing, feedback, and continuous improvement of Keldine’ accounting & tax technology products and services.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor junior accountants and interns.
- Review deliverables to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and client service excellence.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
· Professional accounting qualification examinations (CPA, ACCA etc) finalist or in progress.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting, finance, audit, outsourced accounting, or advisory services.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience using accounting systems, e.g QuickBooks Online
- Strong understanding of Kenyan tax regulations and statutory compliance requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience engaging directly with clients and stakeholders is an added advantage.

Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- A graduate or expecting to graduate in 2026 with a bachelor’s degree in commerce/economics/law or related field from a reputable university.
- Professional accounting qualification examinations (CPA, ACCA etc) finalist or in progress.
- Up to 1 year of professional experience in tax or accounting environment is an added advantage
