Microinsurance Operations Associate

About The Role

  • The Microinsurance Operations Associate will spearhead the establishment and expansion of One Acre Fund’s microinsurance initiatives, focusing on personal insurance products. These products include funeral, hospital cash, maternal health, asset loss or other impactful insurance products. You will design systems, operations, and distribution channels to offer new forms of protection to our farmers, beyond the traditional scope of climate and agricultural insurance.
  • You will work with farmers and customer-facing teams, dedicating time to fieldwork to understand community needs, inform and engage farmers on available products, and build trust and fluency in our insurance offerings. We offer the unique opportunity to contribute to the financial security and empowerment of smallholder farming communities, with aN emphasis on innovation and leadership.
  • You will report to both the Global Head of Risk & Resilience and the Tupande Product Strategy team.

Responsibilities

  • Product Development and Management: You’ll lead the design and implementation of new microinsurance products tailored to the needs of smallholder farmers. This includes conducting market research, developing product concepts, and managing pilot tests.
  • Operations and Distribution: You’ll set up and improve operations and distribution networks for microinsurance products. Work involves hands-on fieldwork to train and support field officers and ensure products are accessible well-understood and adopted by farmers.
  • Partner Engagement: You’ll engage with a variety of partners, including insurers, technology partners, government agencies, and NGOs, to facilitate product delivery.
  • Innovation and Strategy: You’ll inspire creativity in the microinsurance space, identifying opportunities for new products or improvements to existing offerings. Develop strategic plans for scaling operations sustainably.
  • Impact Measurement and Reporting: You’ll monitor and evaluate the performance and impact of insurance products, ensuring an understanding of One Acre Fund’s mission of improving farmer prosperity.

Website Manager

About The Role

  • The website manager will manage One Acre Fund’s global website as part of the execution of the organization’s digital strategy. We are at an exciting stage in the development of this strategy. Having recently revamped the site design and CMS, we are now looking to expand our capacity to enable us to better manage and optimize the website in support of our digital brand building, engagement, fundraising, and recruitment goals.
  • Our website is an important part of our digital ecosystem, supporting all our digital marketing activities for multiple audiences across the funnel. It is a critical tool in helping us to create an impact for the farmers we serve by helping us raise funds and attract top talent: our primary audiences are supporters/donors and talented professionals like yourself in the East African job market.
  • We’re looking for a website manager with strong content management and technical skills to manage the daily upkeep and optimization of the website, help deliver smooth user journeys and experiences, and support key internal stakeholders to meet their strategic objectives.
  • You’ll also be the day-to-day project manager for any new functionality or developments and deployments with our web agency, so we’re looking for someone with strong product and project management skills to prioritize and translate requirements to developers and stakeholders alike.
  • You will report to the Digital Marketing and Communications Associate and you will sit within One Acre Fund’s Communications Team, but will closely collaborate with our Business Development (Fundraising and Partnerships) and Recruitment teams.

Responsibilities
Website Content Management
Content Management

  • Publish new content and keep existing content on the website up to date (including data visualisations)
  • Manage the execution and optimization of user journeys across the site
  • Manage the process for ensuring the Dutch translations across the site stay up to date in line with the English pages (doesn’t require you to speak Dutch)
  • Work with key stakeholders to conduct content gap analysis: reviewing existing content and analytics against our marketing and audience needs

Conversion Optimization

  • Support our web agency and internal stakeholders to implement a regular schedule of A/B (and other) testing and optimizations

Analytics

  • Generate regular reports on website performance, identifying optimizations to inform functionality developments, content strategies, and user journey developments

Strategy and Technical Management
Website Strategy Development

  • Support key internal stakeholders with the ongoing development of the global website strategy in line with audience needs, organizational priorities, analytics insights, and industry trends
  • Execute those strategies on the website
  • Advise on website content, user journey development, and technical best practices in an environment where some stakeholders are not digital experts

Technical Project Management

  • Prioritise and manage a continuous backlog of improvement work, considering input from multiple stakeholders
  • Scope and refine requirements for our web agency
  • Day-to-day project management of new functionality requests, site improvements and upgrades
  • Manage the QA testing of new features, developments, and codebase updates
  • Manage a regular program of bug testing across the site and our integrations

Infrastructure Management And Support

  • Manage the hosting and support of the website, including management of a regular schedule of maintenance work, and overseeing our Cloudflare subscription
  • Help manage our software integrations – for example, working with our Salesforce team to support integration optimizations, additions, and testing
  • Support the decision-making around hosting, support, and integrations

Project and Stakeholder Management
Vendor Management

  • Be One Acre Fund’s main point of contact with our external web developers, coordinating with them to work through new projects or bug resolution as and when needed.

Internal Stakeholders

  • Lead the coordination with key internal stakeholders from our Recruitment and Business Development teams

Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • At least three (3) years experience in digital marketing or communication, digital project or product management, with significant experience maintaining and improving a professional website with the help of external agencies
  • Professional website content management experience, ideally with Drupal or WordPress
  • Experience with third-party platforms and integrations within a website ecosystem (experience with platforms used for lead generation, fundraising, or payments a plus)
  • Experience in stakeholder management and vendor coordination (experience working in or with a website agency a plus)
  • Strong understanding and practical experience of GA4, Google Search Console, (Google Tag Manager a plus), and the ability to turn data into actionable recommendations
  • Experience in different project management technologies (Kanban a plus)
  • Experience developing and delivering a product improvement pipeline while incorporating the needs of multiple stakeholders
  • Experience scoping and refining user requirements, and translating these into change requests that can be actioned by developers
  • Understanding of a website’s place in cross-channel strategies and user journeys

Agriculture Research & Partnerships Manager

About the Role

You’ll report to the Global Director of R&D, and work within the Global Impact team, which combines agronomy, data science, qualitative research, and SBC skillsets. The team coordinates an R&D program spanning several countries, makes recommendations to country programs on how the products and recommendations we offer to farmers can be improved, and then supports them in delivering those recommendations to farmers through multiple channels, working in collaboration with other global teams with specialist skills for example in communications, design, video, etc. Jobs at One Acre Fund

Responsibilities

  • Research strategy – You will design and support teams in implementing efficient projects to evaluate the impact of new agricultural products, recommendations, or information/advisory services. This will include selecting experimental approaches to balance the need to evaluate impact, scalability, and usability.
  • Spatial and temporal optimization of agronomic guidance – You will ensure farmers receive agronomic recommendations tailored to their capacity, location, and evolving season conditions (e.g., variety selection, seeding rate, fertilizer composition, rate, and application timing).
  • Technical communication – You will analyze and synthesize data & insights from internal and external sources, using your scientific knowledge to translate complex technical concepts into concise & compelling communication tailored to a range of audiences (e.g. smallholder farmers, internal leadership teams, government officials)

About the Role

The Global Payroll & Taxes Manager at One Acre Fund is responsible for delivering timely and accurate payroll for the entire organization every month. You will guide our payroll teams to maintain excellence across all aspects of payroll operations, including data accuracy, process efficiency, compliance, and development of a team of payroll professionals.

As the head of the payroll department, you will lead a team of three, and report to the Global Director of HR Shared Services.

Responsibilities

  • Own monthly payroll: You will take overall responsibility for ensuring that One Acre Fund submits payroll for all staff each month. Ensure the payroll process is accurate, efficient, and compliant with OAF’s policies.
  • Country coordination: Lead the coordination and processing of payroll across our different country teams, working with country payroll leads to guide them.
  • Statutory Compliance and Knowledge Management: Manage statutory processing and submissions in multiple countries; develop systems to automate submissions and record-keeping for all payroll information.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Oversee and build the capacity of a team of payroll professionals. Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages continuous improvement and excellence in our payroll operations.
  • Strategic Direction and Change Management: Define the future strategic direction of One Acre Fund’s Payroll operations, for example selecting and implementing new software solutions.
