Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Officer will support the mission, goals, and operations of the Green Belt Movement in Kenya through the provision of accurate, complete, and timely professional financial services. The Finance Officer will ensure accurate Financial Planning, Financial reporting, Cash flow management & Cost control, Donor Reporting and Financial system updating and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review of imprest and ensure compliance and correctness, timely Liquidation of imprest in the system and reconciliation on Imprest.
- Timely preparation and processing of all bank accounts reconciliations.
- Facilitate the filling of annual returns, both KRA and NGO Board.
- Records Management; ensure that all documents relating to donor transactions are properly filed and available when required;
- Ensure timely processing of payroll and submission of statutory deductions
- Produce monthly management accounts i.e. Budget vs Actuals and projections
- Produce Aging Analysis for accounts receivables and payables
- Produce exception reports on imprest recoveries i.e. shortages, recoveries from payroll, possible fraud reports.
- Sit in for Finance Manager when duty calls.
- Any other responsibility that could be assigned from time to time
Qualifications & Experience
- Preparation of Annual Budgets for programs & the Organization in collaboration with the program team and Finance Manager
- Preparation of donor budgets for proposals in collaboration with the programs team and Finance Manager.
- Recording and timely reporting of grants income received.
- Monitor all costs to ensure they are within the projects budget; Appraisal of requests to ensure cost effectiveness and compliance financial policies and procedures
- Follow up on all donor receipts through the resource mobilization office.
- Ensure budget uploads onto the QuickBooks system for all new grants.
- Ensure clearance of the due to and due from accounts.
- Monitor the staff advances to ensure compliance with laid down procedures
- Bachelor’s Degree in commerce BCOM or Business Administration majoring in Accounting or Finance
- At least 5years of experience in Financial Accounting, book keeping and project accounting and related areas
Professional Accountancy Qualifications (CPAK/ACCA).
- At least 3 years of experience in using QuickBooks Accounting System
- Demonstrable knowledge of MPESA Bulk Payment System.
- Experience in financial book keeping best practices
- Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office packages and QuickBooks Accounting System
- Effective verbal, written, presentation and listening communications skills.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality in performing the duties of the Finance Officer with high-level of integrity and honesty and be able to work under minimum supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, direct and coordinate timely implementation of the Project in accordance with the project documents, supporting agreements, annual work plans and the procedures of GBM
- Plan all project activities according to donor and executive directives, budget projections and other guidelines
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and gap analyses to identify capacity-building needs and priorities within the public health workforce and partner organizations.
- Prepare annual and quarterly program work plans and provide assistance to the extension officer and community facilitator to prepare individual annual and quarterly work plans
