Job Overview

The Silage Sales Specialist at Bles Dairies will primarily be responsible for driving the sales of quality maize silage to farms and cooperatives across Kenya. This includes building awareness of the benefits of silage, including silage from alternative crops, and supporting customers in adopting these solutions to enhance livestock productivity and farm profitability. Reporting officially to the Sales Manager, the candidate will work very closely with the Farm Management Support Team (FMS) and has a dotted reporting line to the Managing Director, specifically for strategic implementation. Key Responsibilities

Sales of Maize Silage

  • • Lead the sales of maize silage products, ensuring volume and revenue targets are consistently achieved.
  • • Build strong relationships with farms and cooperatives, providing tailored solutions for their feed needs.
  • • Identify and develop new business opportunities to expand market share.
  • Market Development for Alternative Silages and Fodder
  • • Drive awareness and adoption of silage made from alternative crops, e.g. sorghum, dolichos, cowpeas, etc.
  • • Conduct on-site demonstrations, workshops, and field days to showcase product benefits.

Customer Engagement & Support

  • • Educate customers on the advantages of silage and best practices for use.
  • • Offer technical support and insights to optimize silage feeding strategies for livestock, with support from the farm management support team.

Strategic Planning & Reporting

  • • Collaborate with the Sales Manager to develop and execute sales strategies.
  • • Work closely with the Farm Management Support Team (FMS) to align sales activities with broader farm management objectives.
  • • Maintain accurate sales records, analyze performance data, and provide actionable recommendations to improve outcomes.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Science, or a related field (preferred).

Experience:

  • • Minimum of 3 years in agricultural sales, with a focus on livestock feed or related products.
  • • Strong knowledge of animal nutrition and silage feeding practices is an added advantage.
  • • Proven track record of achieving sales targets in a competitive market.

Skills:

  • • Highly commercial mindset with excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • • Ability to engage and influence farmers and cooperatives.
  • • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM tools.
