Overview

Responsibilities

  • Execute preventive maintenance and condition monitoring of the whole plant and machinery and updating related records;
  • Maintenance of plant, machinery, boiler, air compressor, refrigeration & air-conditioning systems, variable speed drives, process instrumentation and Plcs- Siemens and Allen Bradley.
  • Root cause analysis for Machine/equipment failure and taking corrective measures to minimize future occurrence;
  • Energy management.
  • Attending to breakdowns and assisting in machine trouble shooting.
  • Spares management
  • Training and coaching operators on lean tools by participating in Autonomous maintenance activities.
  • Ensure application of LOTO procedures on machines.

Experience You’ll Bring

  • A diploma or equivalent in electrical engineering from a recognized institution;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a busy manufacturing organization

Behaviours You’ll Need

  • Sound working knowledge and understanding of electrical motor control centers, variable speed drives, instrumentation, Plcs-siemens & Allen Bradley and workplace electrical safety standards.
  • Can read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Good knowledge on communication network i.e. ethernet,
  • Can read and interrupt with pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
  • Systematic Troubleshooting capabilities and traceability for electrical breakdowns.
  • Very good knowledge and experience on classic control diagrams with ability to trace faults.
  • Good knowledge of utility equipment and troubleshooting i.e.air compressors, generators ,boilers.
  • Understand the SHE principle i.e. LOTO ,working at height, hot work.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration and air conditioning systems is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all SCJ Safety, Health and Environment Procedures and standards.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on all plant and equipment as allocated by the Engineering And Maintenance Manager / Maintenance Planner and Scheduler to guarantee plant safety, people safety, product quality and plant uptime.
  • Carry out troubleshooting, diagnosis and resolution of mechanical and electrical breakdowns that may occur in the plant and ensure losses due to plant downtime are within target.
  • Carry out root cause problem solving / breakdown analysis using problem solving tools such as 5 Why’s, Fishbone / Ishikawa diagrams to prevent recurrence of equipment breakdowns
  • Drive implementation of Autonomous Maintenance on the production halls. Coach operators on CILT activities required per equipment and participate in Autonomous Production Teams (APTs)
  • Adhere to SCJ stock room inventory procedures around issuance and use of spare parts.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the site maintenance system

Experience You’ll Bring

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • 3 to 5 years minimum experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment

Behaviours You’ll Need

  • Working knowledge and experience with highly automated production and processing equipment.
  • Working knowledge and experience in installing and maintaining electrical and electronic system components such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, relays, flow meters, contractors, servo motors, variable speed drives, vision systems etc. Experience with control systems from the following manufacturers will be an added advantage: Keyence International, Siemens, Mitsubishi Electric, Sick AG.

Senior Analyst, Operations Cost Accounting

About the role:

The role is part of SC Johnson’s global Manufacturing Finance organization and closely collaborates with the Associate Manager, Operations Cost Accounting based in Nairobi, Kenya. The candidate is responsible for P&L budgeting, forecasting of plant expenses and related absorption and capacity analysis. Perform thorough diagnostics and monitoring to assist Nairobi site in determining where to apply resources, as well as identifying opportunities to eliminate all forms of waste. The role will have strong interfaces with the regional AMET Manufacturing leadership team based across multiple locations in the EMEA Region, the regional Costing team based in Italy, as well as the European headquarter based in Switzerland.

At the same time, the position will ensure continuity in financial reporting in strong collaboration with SC Johnson’s Shared Services Center based in the South Africa.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Budgets and manage plant financial performance: Analyse monthly financial performance of the manufacturing site, with particular focus on volumes produced, conversion cost incurred and cost savings delivered. Prepare monthly business commentaries. Provide timely, relevant, and actionable reporting of key performance measures.
  • Provide accurate P&L forecast projections (including absorption, functional expenses, material variances, and efficiency variances) linked to the S&OP process. Highlight risks & opportunities with regards to future plant performance.
  • Lead the preparation of formalized Capital Investment proposals in the context of capacity expansion of the plant. Identify and quantify drivers of costs and benefits and perform Return-on-Investment (ROI) Analysis. Obtain sign-off by senior global leaders of the company. Ensure project execution is in line with approved investment proposals. Develop & improve capital project spending tracking systems.
  • Perform variance analysis and quantify the impact of improved equipment productivity (OEE). Influence the team to take decisions which will result in strong plant financial performance. Highlight and quantify financial opportunities (e.g. related to sub-optimal allocation of resources / sources of waste), prepare recommendations for improvement and drive to have these recommendations implemented.
  • Point of contact for external and internal auditors. Support the delivery against statutory reporting requirements. Be a champion for Internal Controls – Ensure best-in-class Internal Controls are in operation at the site. Drive to continuously improve the Internal Control environment, with a particular focus on compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements. Implement process improvements based on recommendations made by Global Internal Audit.

Experience you’ll bring:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years post-qualification experience.
  • Prior business support experience is essential.
  • Prior experience in a mass-market production focussed manufacturing facility is a plus, though not essentially required.
  • Excellent accountancy understanding, ideally incl. previous exposure to US GAAP.
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel + Powerpoint required; MS Access, SAP R/3, SAP BPC are an additional benefit.
