Role Purpose:
This role reports to the maintenance supervisor and will effectively perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on property, plant and equipment to achieve overall efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Plant Maintenance
- Process, plan, implement and control, review and adjust a maintenance schedule for assigned jobs.
- Preventive and condition-based maintenance of machines as per laid down instructions and procedures to ensure smooth running
- Trouble shooting Mechanical equipment and machine failures by inspection and testing and prescribing corrective action and reinstating it back to its working condition
- Ensure efficient machine operations during shift cover
- Initiating purchase requisition for machine spare parts for maintenance
- Identify and report all assets misuse (e.g. machines, spares, tools, etc.)
- Machine modification, improvement and innovation to improve efficiency
- Maintenance checks on building structure and facilities
- Basic maintenance of plant utilities (Generators, Compressors etc.)
- Support maintenance of building, facility and machines at the Central Support Office
- Any other assigned duties by the supervisor
Maintenance Reporting
- Inspection of machines operations and recording of accurate data such as pressures, temperatures etc. to ascertain smooth operation or service requirements.
- Logging details of work performed on data records to enable further action, planning for next service and storage as history.
- Capturing correct and accurate data i.e. task details and time taken on job cards.
Communication & Accountability
- Improve on process accountability through F2F discussions
- Ensure effective communication
- Participate in conflict resolution. Escalate chronic issues that require urgent attention
Continual Improvement Initiatives
- Support PaTaMu, CI, ERM and 6K, initiatives and objectives
- Offer support and training to AM team members
- Continually generate improvement ideas and actively participate in CI projects.
- Improve operational efficiencies through PaTaMu
- Identify process challenges & use PDCA to address bottlenecks.
- Support activities around Unga’s culture code – FIRST.
Safety Health and Environment (SHE) & Food Safety
- Support SHE and GMP/FSMS initiatives and objectives in the department.
- Identify and report all quality and food safety issues during daily operations.
- Participate in the planned workplace safety trainings
- Ensure adherence and compliance to safety requirements
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- BSc Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance, mechanical installations, welding and fabrication
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a busy manufacturing company
- Competent in troubleshooting, problem solving, team building, planning and decision making
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills

Office Operations & Site Management
- Manage day-to-day office operations to ensure maximum efficiency and alignment with the company’s standards.
- Monitor and manage office supplies inventory including stationery and daily consumables and raise purchase requisitions.

Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Distribution Supervisor, this position will be responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of items from the warehouse or production to the customer. The job holder ensures that all documentation is in order, transportation arrangements are arranged efficiently, and the correct goods are shipped in accordance with company regulations and customer requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Distribution
- Record and coordinate the dispatch of all deliveries, including Finished Goods, By-products, and Interplant Transfers, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Issuance of vehicle inspection sheets and tally sheets – blank forms to Security & duly filled forms to UL Tally clerks for each truck prior to loading.
- Maintain a registry of vehicles, physical allocation and daily trips.
- Validating & reconciling delivery yellow copies (Proof of Delivery-POD) after goods delivery to customers, escalating customer claims & filing the PODs daily.
- Keeping custody, recording and requisite issuance of delivery pink copies to transporters for payment upon validation of charges as applicable.
- Daily updating of Excel register for all trucks dispatched to customers, tracking of TAT for PODs return to site & escalation of non-compliance.
- Ensure proper filing of all yellow copies/IPT billing documents.
- Managing and organizing trucks and drivers as per the loading requirements and allocations.
- Ensure the drivers are at the loading bay when required.
- Report any discrepancies between the invoice/delivery note and the physical tally sheets to the Distribution Supervisor.
- Collaborate with the Weighbridge Clerk to improve the TAT for customers.
- Ensure that all the drivers are issued with all the relevant documentation before dispatch.
- Ensure that trucks assigned carry acceptable tonnage as per their capacities.
- Giving proper orientation to new drivers and guide them on unga ways of working and proper handling of all documents related to dispatch.
PaTaMu, Safety Health and Environment, Food Safety & ERM
- Actively participate in 6K, CI, SHE, FSMS, GMP, PaTaMu & ERM activities and initiatives at the department.
- Identify and report all quality, food safety, SHE & ERM issues during daily operations for actions.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis for missed targets within the Distribution department and timely close identified improvement actions to continually improve the process.
- Assist in timely action closure of all actions relating to PaTaMu, SHE, FSMS & ERM.
- Participate in regular safety tools box awareness sessions and training.
- Participate in hazards spotting and closure of all the potential hazards within the required timelines.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain management
- Minimum (1) year experience in FMCG
- Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with ERP i.e. SAP is an added advantage
