Internship Opportunities – 3 Positions

Field of study:
- Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry/Microbiology / Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Genomics or any related biological science course from a recognized institution.
- Be Familiar with conducting literature review.
- Conversant with basic microbial culture techniques and epidemiology
- Be Familiar with genome sequence technologies and applications.
Terms of Engagement:
The successful candidate will be paid a monthly stipend Ksh. 25,000 without any other benefits.
Interns will be expected to take up a personal accident cover and medical Insurance cover for the period of internship.

Intern Research Assistant

Study Coordinator

Key Responsibilities:
- Implementing clinical research projects and/or supervise designated aspects of the work
- Establishing strategic partnerships for research, training, innovations, technology
- Supervising junior professional and technical staff attached to his/her clinical research program,
- Monitoring and evaluating implementation of research projects
- Writing manuscripts, reports and translating research findings into lay language
- Disseminating and translating research findings for evidence-based policy formulations and implementation
- Develop and manage standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all study procedures
- Plan and coordinate meetings for both internal project staff and external collaborators
- Host/participate in scheduled conference calls with the international study partners.

Vacancy Requirements:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution with a valid license to practice medicine in Kenya.
- Prior experience conducting clinical research or participating in clinical trials.
- Knowledge of STIs/HIV, including epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment
- Strong writing skills evidenced by peer review publications.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and ethical guidelines governing clinical research (e.g., ICH-GCP, CITI)
- Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with clinicians, other study staff, participants, administrators, regulators, monitors, and sponsors.
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills to independently manage workflow.
- Ability to prioritize quickly and appropriately

Pharmacy Intern

Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing and dispensing drugs to patients/study participants.
- Verify that prescriptions are filled correctly and on time.
- Interacting with patients/study participants, dispense medication, and complete study-specific documentation according to study-specific SOPs, and good pharmaceutical practice.
- Receiving, record, and store medication received at the pharmacy.
- Maintaining the inventory of prescription medications, and clinical items and inform the pharmacy practitioner of any restocking required.
Vacancy Requirements:
- Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology/Pharmacy from a PPB-recognized institution
- Enrolled/registered not more than one year ago or in the process of enrollment/registration with PPB
Pharmaceutical Technologist

Key Responsibilities:
- Dispense drugs to study participants.
- Counsel clients on drug administration and compliance.
- Order corresponding supplies such as drugs, clinical items, and other pharmaceutical items from the approved vendor(s) and sponsor organization(s).
- Maintain accurate inventory logs for drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies.
- Support and promote the safe and ethical use of investigational drugs.
- Develop standard operating procedures for pharmacy management as per study protocols.
- Issue clinical items to clinicians and counselors.
- Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
Vacancy Requirements:
- Diploma in Pharmacy/ Pharmaceutical Technology from PPB accredited institution
- Must be enrolled with the Pharmacy & Poisons Board and in a professional association
- At least three years of working experience
- Experience working in a clinical research setting is an added advantage Added Advantage
- Experience and knowledge in vaccines and HIV care is vital.
