The Supply Chain Lead at Griffith Foods for Africa will be responsible to supporting the network of delivering products across the entire supply chain to end customers by engage in the design, planning, execution, control, and supervision of supply chain activities with the objective of creating net value, building a competitive infrastructure, synchronizing supply with demand developing and maintaining good relationships with 3rd parties and measuring performance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to routinely report KPIs along with appropriate analysis and countermeasures where necessary.
  • Prepare shipping/receiving and export/import documentation required for international shipments.
  • Assist customers in import/export clearance by providing custom declarations for shipment transactions.
  • Coordinate with shipping forwarders to obtain and update the shipment tracking information for customers.
  • Arrange and negotiate road, rail, sea or air freight rates with carriers.
  • Check and negotiate letters of credit with relevant banks.
  • Perform organizing, shipping and delivering goods worldwide in smooth, timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, security, regulatory, and company policies.
  • Obtain certification from Chamber of Commerce for international shipments when required.
  • Prepare and maintain shipment documentation packages for reference purposes.
  • Perform other tasks within the International Deployment and Logistics team, as and when needed.
  • Communicate with sales/service and other functional areas to resolve customer problems in a timely manner.
  • Organize local operations for blending activities, either in owned plants or by co-manufacturers.
  • Directs and coordinates supply chain functions through values, strategy, resource optimization, profitability maximization, and KPIs resulting in the maximization of customer satisfaction.
  • Develops appropriate supply chain strategy to maximize customer satisfaction at the lowest possible cost.
  • Demand Management. Understanding the exit demand, quantity, due date, certainty and priority of an organization’s product.
  • Monitor forecasts to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities.
  • Build relationships within the company and with external parties.
  • Works with key stakeholders to determine and set up intercompany transfers.
  • Works directly with the sales department to determine the most cost-effective distribution solution for finished goods transportation to customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or in Industrial Organization, Supply Chain or similar.
  • Strong experience required a minimum of 5 years in Supply Chain.
  • English language required. Other languages are an advantage.
  • Driving and champion new ways of working with a hands-on attitude.
  • Highly organized with the ability to effectively manage time and workload.
  • The ability to build strong relationships is critical whilst maintaining high standards of professionalism at all times.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong and professional approach. To take responsibility for all issues related to the position in such a way that the person is respected in their duties. Continuously strives to improve their output and achieve results.
  • Good negotiation and communication skills.

  • Position can be in Nairobi, Kenya or Kigali, Rwanda.
