ABOUT YOU AND THE ROLE   

  • As a member of Zipline’s Radio Operations team in Chemelil, Kenya, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the communication between our distribution centers and the air traffic control is efficient and timely.
  • This will involve working with a team of flight operators and the Air Traffic Control to ensure efficient and coordinated communication.
  • You will be expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of our daily operations and processes to support the growth of our operations as we scale.
  • This is a three-month contract.

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

As a VHF- Radio Operator, your responsibilities will include;

  • Communications: Operate our VHF-Radio Equipment to establish and maintain communications with other air space users.
  • Monitoring: Continuously monitor VHF Radio Frequencies for incoming transmissions, advisories, and restrictions and stay alert to ensure that important messages are not missed.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately record and log all incoming and outgoing transmissions including the time, call signs (if available), and content for each message. Maintain organized records for reference and future analysis.
  • Compliance with regulations: Adhere to applicable rules and regulations related to VHF radio communications. Maintain an understanding of relevant regulations to ensure legal and ethical communication practices.
  • Equipment maintenance: Regularly inspect, test, and maintain our VHF radio equipment to ensure its proper functioning. Report any faults or issues to the flight operations lead.
  • Team coordination: Collaborate with other operators to ensure efficient and coordinated communication. Maintain effective communication skills to facilitate teamwork.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING  

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Aerospace Engineering
  • A certificate in radio telephony from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority
  • An English proficiency certificate from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority
  • You enjoy working in the field and are not afraid to get your hands dirty
  • Ability to stay focused, humble, and safety-conscious during 12 hour shifts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and enjoy work that keeps you on your feet
  • Ability to comply with regulations
  • Extremely process & detail-oriented
  • Must be eligible to work in Kenya

WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW  

  • Must be willing and able to work night/weekends on shifts
  • Must be willing and able to work for a period not more than 45 hours/week
  • This is a full-time position based in Chemelil and will require relocation to Kisumu/Kisumu environs
  • Must be willing to relocate to any of our distribution centers in Kenya

About You and The Role  

  • As an Implementations Program Manager, you will work at the intersection of cutting-edge engineering, cost-effective supply chain, manufacturing, quality, complex healthcare systems, and highly regulated airspaces.
  • This position will sit on the New Implementations Team at Zipline.
  • We are looking for a versatile operational leader, strong in strategy and execution with proven success delivering cross-functional, implementation programs efficiently and on time.

What You’ll Do  

  • You will serve as a hands-on Program Manager for the complex, cross-disciplinary initiatives to grow our program with Elton John Aids Foundation in Kisumu, Kenya, as well as, other healthcare programs. This role is also responsible for identifying opportunities and creating systems and processes that allow for faster launches at scale.
  • Set and communicate program objectives and priorities.
  • Interact, integrate, and drive results across cross-functional teams in-country operations, aviation regulatory, software, sales, etc.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the appropriate Implementation Plan ranging from when we will achieve a milestone to specific launch dates.
  • Partner with Customer Success and Zipline’s customers to design operational workflows and plans that meet the customer’s needs.
  • Work closely with Zipline policy and legal teams to unlock approvals for launches.
  • Ensure critical cross-team efforts are well owned (including owning some yourself) such as developing efficient and compliant operation procedures, executing on-launch strategies, or root-causing complex problems to overcoming blockers.
  • Lead cross-functional retrospectives and process improvement efforts.
  • Ensure implementation processes are followed and be the cross-disciplinary decision maker when exceptions should be made.
  • Continuously perform relevant risk and opportunity analyses to stay ahead of the game and address problems before they impact the program.
  • Provide clear updates at both the working and executive level.
  • Create and refine processes and templates across Programs, including things like handoff documentation, scheduling, risk tracking, etc.

Qualifications

  • A strong track record of program managing multiple complex implementation programs (minimum 5 years of experience)

  • Excellent computer skills, especially with communication tools and program management tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time

ABOUT YOU AND THE ROLE  

The Facilities & procurement specialist plays an essential role in keeping our distribution center operations well coordinated and running seamlessly. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and procurement processes at our distribution center. You will oversee facility management, including maintenance, security, and space utilization, as well as administration, procurement and managing external contracts and vendors. You will organize, project plan, and execute facilities, administrative, and procurement-related tasks.

This position will be based in Awasi, Kenya.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Facility Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the distribution center facilities, including the warehouse and fleet.
  • Develop and implement facility management policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
  • Support the team to develop and execute procurement plans for country operations.
  • Collaborate on activities with employees related to facilities operations (from maintenance and procurement to security and cleaning
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to address facility-related issues promptly and effectively.

Procurement:

  •  Identify cost-saving opportunities through vendor negotiation, contract management, and strategic sourcing initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures, including vendor selection, evaluation, and contract management.
  • Experience with at least one procurement workflow tool.

Vendor Management:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors, negotiating contracts and service agreements to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards.
  • Evaluate vendor performance regularly and implement improvement plans as necessary to optimize supplier relationships.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING 

  • At least 4 years of experience in facility management and procurement, or related roles, preferably in logistics or technology industries.
  • Strong understanding of facility management principles, procurement best practices, and supply chain processes.
  • Experience leading and managing teams.
  • Proven ability to manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and drive cost-saving initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
  • Strong data gathering, analytics, and reporting skills. Ability to work efficiently with computing systems (Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
  • Must have the legal right to work in Kenya
  • Licensed Driver who is able to drive a manual vehicle
