Intern Health

Key roles and responsibilities:
- Program Support and Implementation
- Assist in preparing and reviewing ICHP work plans and budgets in collaboration with the Health team.
- Participate in the implementation of community-based health activities in alignment with The Maa Trust’s strategic goals.
- Support monthly meetings with Community Health Mobilizers (CHMs) and peer mentor review sessions.
- Contribute to the compilation of monthly and quarterly activity reports.

Qualifications and Skills:
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree (or in progress) in Public Health, Community Health, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Passionate about health promotion and community empowerment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both English and Kiswahili (Maa is an added advantage).
- Basic knowledge of Adolescent and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (A/SRHR), WASH, or safeguarding is desirable.

The Bead-Work Artisan

- The Bead-work Artisan at The Maa Bead-work will be responsible for creating high-quality, culturally authentic beadwork products that reflect Maasai heritage while supporting sustainable livelihoods, preserving indigenous craftsmanship, and contributing to women’s economic empowerment through artisan employment.
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Produce bead-work items such as jewelry, home decor, and fashion accessories according to provided designs, quality standards, and production timelines.
- Participate in the co-creation of new product designs with the product development team and give cultural input on patterns and symbolism.
- Maintain consistency and precision in bead arrangement, stitching, color coordination, and finishing.

Communications Intern

The intern will contribute by writing and editing stories, capturing photos and videos, and assisting with visual content for donor reports, social media, and internal documentation.
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Support in writing, editing, and proofread compelling human-interest stories and success stories from project activities.

Key roles and responsibilities:
HR Administration and Records Management
- Maintain up-to-date and organized employee files (physical and digital) in line with policy and legal requirements.

Education Coordinator

- The Education Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of the Education Programme at The Maa Trust (TMT). The incumbent will support the design and delivery of inclusive, high-quality, child-centered educational projects. This role also ensures mainstreaming of child protection and gender components in all education project initiatives while fostering strong collaborations with community and school stakeholders.
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Education Project Planning and Implementation
- Supports the development and implementation of TMT’s education programme and projects aligned to TMT’s strategy.
- Develops technically sound work plans, activity schedules, and budgets aligned to the Education programme goal and outcomes.
- Ensures effective coordination of the various education activities, including career fair, mentorship, teachers’ capacity building, school infrastructure projects, scholarships, and conservation holiday clubs, among others.
- Provides technical support to teachers on child-friendly, gender-responsive, and inclusive pedagogies.
- Ensures critical cross-cutting themes, including child safeguarding and gender equality, are integrated into the education project.
- Assists with budget tracking and processing of programme/project-related documentation.
- Contributes to the development and review of training curricula and programme materials.

Intern Data Management

- The Data Management Intern will support the DQI Department in strengthening The Maa Trust’s data systems, ensuring quality data collection, entry, cleaning, storage, analysis, and visualization aligned with The Maa Trust mission, vision,values, and strategic priorities. The incumbent will collaborate with the internal teams, including programs, to address key community challenges in the Maasai Mara landscape, and assure quality of programme implementation, and achieve evidence-based outcomes and impact. The position will be based at The Maa Trust’s HQ in the Maasai Mara, Narok County.
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Data Collection & Management a) Assist in updating data collection tools and templates (e.g., Excel-based trackers, KoboToolbox).
- Support field data collection (surveys, FGDs, KIIs) using digital tools (e.g., KoBoToolbox). c) Clean, code, validate, and enter data into databases (Excel or SQL) and uploading data collected from field teams into TMT’s central databases.
- Organize and archive physical and digital data records of MEAL for easy retrieval and reference.
- Analysis & Visualization
- Assist in analyzing quantitative/qualitative data using Excel, Power BI, or Stata.
