Job purpose

This main purpose of this role is to deliver high quality IT services and monitor and ensure proper functioning of operating system environments, hardware platforms, and peripherals in order to support the company’s technology needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and update IT policies and procedures in line with industry trends and best practices.
  • Identify, prepare and submit IT infrastructure needs to procurement for sourcing on a quarterly basis.
  • Configure and commission IT infrastructure including but not limited to computers, laptops, access control, alarm system and CCTV to ensure availability and reliability to support business operations.
  • Carry out scheduled software and hardware maintenance including but not limited to firmware upgrade, pitching for operating systems, database, servers & personal computers upgrades and updates to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor and ensure regular and timely renewal of software licenses in line with requirements.
  • Provide help desk support to users to ensure effective closure of IT issues raised in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a log record for the company’s IT assets to ensure accountability.
  • Identify and recommend new technologies in order to support current business requirements.
  • Deliver excellent presentation and audio-visual support including but not limited to video and audio conferencing, PABX, and CCTV and ensure boardrooms’ technology is well maintained to ensure high levels of availability to facilitate business communication in the company.
  • Carry out user training on basic functionality of applications in line with requirements.
  • Mobilize, motivate, influence technical proposals for solutions involving product roadmaps, upgrades, application performance, high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Participate in strategic network planning (LAN/WAN), tactical operation planning, and the development of contingency operation plans.
  • Manage infrastructure components (PCs, and Printers &communication system) and systems to provide IT services.
  • Review and approve all modifications to IT infrastructure components and provide guidance and input on new technologies acquisition;
  • Deliver and manage all IT hardware during office moves/ expansions/ refurbishment.
  • Manage 3rd party vendors (including issue escalation) and their services; creating, reviewing and updating underpinning contracts as well as agree on services to be delivered and measure these services as necessary to ensure value for money.
  • Advice on hardware performance and evolving requirements of the company.
  • Proactively improve service availability and optimize the availability of the IT infrastructure and attend to incidents, problems, change and requests.
  • Provide effective and responsive IT help desk services to staff in line with the IT policies and procedures.
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

  • Directly accountable to the Corporate Services Manager.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Technology, or any other related field.
  • Professional ICT qualifications such as CISCO, ITIL, CCNA, MCSE or Virtualization (VMware) will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in information technology.

Procurement Officer

Job purpose

This main purpose of this role is to undertake procurement of goods and services for the company in order to ensure timely delivery of goods and value for money.

Key responsibilities

  • Participate in the annual procurement planning process in collaboration with user departments.
  • Receive and execute procurement requisitions from user departments for procurement of approved goods and services.
  • Source for quotations from suppliers’ and make recommendations on the best offer to the Head of Finance and Business Operations.
  • Generate purchase orders and LPOs for approval by the Head of Finance and Business Operations.
  • Make regular follow up calls to suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods in line with requirements.
  • Follow up payment of suppliers’ invoices to ensure timely settlement.
  • Raise import duty exemption documentation (C60) in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Carry out quarterly bond cancelation (C61) in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Prepare periodic procurement reports in a timely manner in line with requirements.
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required

  • Degree in Procurement, Logistics and Supplies or any other business-related fields.
  • Must be a Member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management with a valid practising license.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain management.

Head of Engineering & Projects Management

Job purpose

This main purpose of this role is to ensure that the company achieves its corporate strategic goals within the Engineering and Project management function. This includes leading and oversighting the optimal engineering design of Space and Style Ltd.’s pre-engineered building solutions (including but not limited to the complete range of Frametech roof structures and frames, Eco buildings, Pre-engineered buildings). This role will also ensure that that the company meets its construction project management strategic objectives through delivery of all installation projects using effective and efficient project management in line with clients’ needs and company objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and implementation of the company’s business strategy and budget preparation as part of the executive team and for the department
  • Actively support the pursuit, conversion, and closing strategic/large projects in the projects and engineering department to drive business growth and maximize the company’s commercial success.
  • Build and maintain strong and long-lasting customer relationships and act as the chief customer experience and satisfaction officer for the department to ensure a sustainable customer base
  • Oversight and manage the process of technical take offs to support estimation of S&S products to be used in the preparation of accurate and good quality of financial proposals for customers in line with established guidelines.
  • Oversight, supervise and peer review the engineering design of S&S’s technical products including all Frametech, eco buildings and pre- engineered building designs to ensure the designs provide innovative and high-quality solutions in response to customers’ enquiries while offering them value for money.
  • Ensure scheduling and execution of all construction project and site processes including, contract preparation, scoping, preparation of program of works, site measurements, works supervision, contract implementation, site meetings for S&S construction projects are perfected in order to ensure optimal project implementation
  • Ensure constant review of the company SOPs within the engineering and projects management function to ensure alignment to the corporate strategic goals
  • Ensure the department’s projects dashboard is well prepared and monitored to drive business goals.
  • Ensure coordination with other departments of all processes relating to engineering and construction projects with emphasis on production, contract perfection, site works, dispatch/logistics, site possession are done to ensure projects are delivered within time, cost, and quality expectations
  • Follow up with the production team to ensure that approved engineering designs are manufactured within the BOM specifications and within expected timelines
  • Track and manage construction project performance to minimize cost variations and claims while ensuring payment terms are kept within contract terms and conditions.
  • Lead the implementation of the company’s quality management system within the department of Engineering and project management function as the chief quality officer
  • Identify, negotiate, on-board and manage project sub-contractors in collaboration with Procurement function to ensure installation projects are delivered within set quality standards, technical specifications, timelines and cost, in line with company and clients’ expectations.
  • Ensure the relevant company personnel attend site meetings and prepare periodic site progress reports for installation projects in line with requirements.
  • Liaise with the supply chain and commercial teams to provide product forecasts to ensure that the technical and engineering product lines are provided adequate inventory, raw material, and resources.
  • Review and submit to the finance departments subcontractor payment requisition and ensure timely payout to subcontractors in line with POW and project milestones
  • Ensure all S&S project sites comply with statutory and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure all risks arising from the department’s functions are determined, registered, and mitigated.
  • Support commercial department initiatives with regards to tender responsiveness for new projects proposals.
  • Plan and coordinate monthly subcontractor meetings to ensure they are well trained in line with S & S product installation standards and customer experience objectives.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the team to ensure high productivity and engagement in the unit.
  • Establish standards of performance and monitor staff performance through periodic performance reviews in line with the company’s performance management cycle.
  • Actively monitor and manage construction project risks including establishing a risk management framework
  • Lead market surveillance and business intelligence reporting for the department to ensure market responsiveness
  • Liaise with project consultants and stakeholders for smooth project implementation
  • Lead a culture of innovation within the unit in line with Company objectives
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

  • Directly accountable to the Chief Executive Officer.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or any other related field.
  • Must be registered with the Engineering Board of Kenya and hold a valid practicing license.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in structural design and project management preferably in the steel industry.
  • Experience in construction project management would be highly desirable.
  • Must have led a team for over 5 years
