For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –

• Certificate in Mortuary Science lasting not less than six (6) months from a recognized institution
• A registration certificate from the Kenya Health Professions Oversight Authority
• A valid practicing licence from the Kenya Health Professions Oversight Authority
• A certificate in computer applications will be an added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities

• Collecting data for fluoride testing in water samples
• Analysing and interpreting results and advising the relevant authorities accordingly
• Diagnosis and treatment of common dental conditions
• Temporary and permanent dental restorations
• Reducing simple fractures of jaws, extractions and disimpassions
• Drainage of dental abscess, suturing to stop bleeding, and prescription of analgesics and antibiotics

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

• A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) means grade C PlainandgradeCPlain in English or Kiswahili and Biology or Biological Sciences, and grade C- Minus in Chemistry, Physics/Physical Sciences, Mathematics or General Sciences
• A Diploma in Community Oral Health from a recognized institution
• A registration certificate from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
• A valid practicing licence from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
• A Certificate in computer applications will be an added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities

• Implementing nutrition programmes
• Providing nutrition services in health care facilities
• Conducting nutrition assessments; collecting and compiling nutrition data
• Providing nutrition, health education and demonstrations
• Counselling of patients with specific nutritional needs
• Monitoring preparation of therapeutic feeds
• Implementing outpatient and inpatient supplementary and therapeutic feeding programs
• Promoting maternal, infant and young children feeding programmes
• Providing micronutrient supplementation

• Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognized training institution
• A registration certificate from the Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute

Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the supervision and guidance of a senior officer.

Duties and responsibilities at this level will involve:

• Assessing, formulating, and implementing a patient’s treatment plan
• Carrying outthe  client’s functional assessments, formulating necessary interventions;
• Maintaining records and data relating to patients
• Providing health education to patients and caregivers
• Carrying out home visits and following up on patients’ progress
• Collecting and compiling data for research
• Preparing periodic reports

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• Diploma in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution
• A registration certificate from the Occupational Therapy Council of Kenya
• A valid practicing licence from the Occupational Therapy Council of Kenya
• A Certificate in computer application skills will be an added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conducting client intake and analysing data
• Developing and reviewing treatment plans
• Conducting a psychological assessment
• Carrying out diagnosis; providing occupational, educational, and other information to individuals
• Offering appropriate psychological interventions to individuals and groups, and keeping appropriate records

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology from a recognized institution
• Registration with the Counsellors and Psychologists Board
• Valid practising licence from the Counsellors and Psychologists Board
• A certificate in computer application skills will be an added advantage
