Accountability Officer

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Accountability Officer will ensure that accountability and compliance with all relevant guidelines and legislations as stipulated by LWF, donors/funders, the Global Accountability Framework, host country and other relevant bodies are adhered to by supporting, training, tracking and implementing appropriate mechanisms.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of LWF accountability framework and ensure its integration across all projects and project cycle(s).
  • Review accountability systems periodically and ensure that they are in keeping with accepted standards/practice, as well as proposed updates that may be necessary through the Area Manager and the Risk Management and Compliance Officer.
  • Build capacity of project teams and community members on principles of accountability based on LWF Code of Conduct, PSEA, Fraud and Corruption, Abuse of Power and other related frameworks.
  • Assist in management, implementation and improvement of complaints and feedback mechanism through implementation of related logistical and administrative duties to ensure complaints are received and the stipulated feedback mechanism is operational.
  • Prepare reports of activities, evaluations, recommendations or decisions for review by the relevant internal parties for corrective action to be taken.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, as well as identify opportunities for partner collaboration as appropriate.
  • Carry out relevant tasks related to accountability as assigned by the Area Manager and the Risk Management and Compliance Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Community Development, Anthropology or related Social Science discipline.
  • Proven experience of minimum 3 years working with humanitarian and development programme.
  • Experience gained with an international NGO will be an added advantage.
  • An impeccable professional standard of ethics as well as the willingness and ability to implement accountability activities within the LWF World Service essential.
  • Certification in Accountability for Affected Population or other relevant certifications an added advantage

COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, use of internet and email
  • Proven experience of using Project Cycle tool in the humanitarian sector.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including influencing negotiation and pragmatism.
  • Experience in Training of Trainers/Facilitation skills (TOT/TOF).
  • Strong analytical, facilitation and documentation experience with humanitarian programmes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to liaise with a variety of people successfully and effectively in a multicultural set up.
  • Experience in Training of Trainers/Facilitation skills (TOT & TOF)
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

Animation & Motion Graphics Trainer

  • FCA Kenya is implementing advanced digital skills training project building on the experiences gained in the Creative Industries program and the potential of young men and women who possess digital skills to engage in a broad range of economic activities in the sector with well-targeted support. The project is aimed at providing emerging creatives with the technical and entrepreneurship skills, knowledge, resources, and access to networks necessary to tap into economic opportunities in Kenya’s creative industry.

Objectives & Deliverables

  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive (intermediate to advanced level) training/coaching curriculum in 2D & 3D Animation and Motion Graphics.
  • Provide personalized coaching and support to participants to facilitate their learning and skill development.
  • Collaborate with the project team to organize networking events, guest speaker sessions, and industry panels to connect participants with professionals in the creative industries.
  • Facilitate mentorship opportunities and encourage participants to engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of industry trends and advancements.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders to facilitate job placements and market linkages for participants.
  • Implement regular assessments and evaluations to measure participant learning outcomes and identify areas for improvement.

Skills and qualifications required

  • A diploma/bachelor’s degree or in a related field, including animation, graphic design, or film.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in both 2D and 3D animation & motion graphics.
  • Proven experience in delivering training programs, preferably in the digital sector.
  • Strong understanding of relevant digital technologies and emerging trends in the industry.
  • Previous experience of delivering Training Programmes through online platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Virtual Learning platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of participants.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt training content to meet the needs of different learning styles.
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional design is a plus.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of global/regional and local (Kenya) job market dynamics in addition to industry connections in Nairobi is desirable.

Business Trainers and Coaches

Objectives & Deliverables
Learning Design & Delivery:

  • Develop and deliver a training and coaching curriculum (focusing on entrepreneurship, business model generation, business-model validation, business startup & management, financial literacy, sales/marketing and business development, access to markets, and investor-readiness) especially tailored to the needs of women in the creative industry.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching and adult-learning methods to accommodate different learning styles and ensure maximum comprehension.

Coaching and Mentorship:

  • Provide virtual coaching in phase 1 and hybrid coaching and mentorship sessions in phase 2 for each cohort to creative entrepreneurs to support their business growth and development, offering personalized support and guidance to help them overcome business challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Offer personalized guidance on overcoming challenges, setting goals, and implementing effective strategies.
  • Foster a supportive and collaborative environment to encourage continuous learning and improvement.

 Linkages and Networking:

  • Help facilitate connections between creative entrepreneurs and relevant stakeholders, including clients, industry experts, and potential collaborators.

Skills and qualifications required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, entrepreneurship, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) as a business trainer, coach, or consultant, preferably within the creative industry or entrepreneurship ecosystem. Preference will be given to a business trainer, coach, or consultant with existing business training curriculum and content, preferably relevant to the creative sector.
  • Strong understanding of business principles, including but not limited to marketing, finance, operations, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate participants from diverse backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with the local business environment in Nairobi and Turkana Counties, with a focus on the creative sector, is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English and Swahili required. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Turkana County is an advantage.
