MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

As a Members Affairs Intern, your role will be to support the Members Affairs team to identify, engage and partner with new education partner educations (also called ‘Partner Education Institutions’ or ‘PEI’s) and to support the candidates and student (also called ‘Members’) management processes from application to onboarding and monitoring.

The role requires strong interpersonal communication skills, proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite and a willingness to learn fast. It is a great opportunity to hone your skills and learn more about the education space whilst making a positive impact.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Intern’s role will be to support the Members Affairs team by:

  • Conducting desktop and field research on local tertiary education institutions tuition cost and financing options, academic calendar, employment data among others. • Supporting outreach activities including but not limited to tertiary education institution visits, Information and Pre-graduation sessions with students among others. Supporting the Members Affairs Manager and the CHANCEN team in administrative activities.
  • Support the Members Affairs Manager in assessing the accuracy of the data collected from students’ applications during the onboarding process.
  • Support in filing all student Members’ documents in the proper files and sharing with the Supervisor for checks.
  • Working closely with the wider CHANCEN International team to ensure good collaboration.
  • Prepare all materials and documents needed for any education institution visits, education fairs or events that CHANCEN will be taking part in.
  • Support the Member Affairs team to conduct the ISA contract signing process between CHANCEN and the student applicants.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor.

ELIGIBILITY

  • A Kenyan citizen over 18 years
  • A final year student or recent graduate (1-year and less from the date of graduation) from a recognized university, college or TVET.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Skills and Google Suite
  • Demonstrated passion to drive social impact
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to travel to other counties outside of Nairobi (travel costs will be covered by CHANCEN International)

TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT & REMUNERATION

  • The Internship Engagement is strictly for three (3) months and is not a guarantee of employment after the completion of the internship..
  • A monthly stipend of Kes. 10,000 will be offered without any other benefits.
  • Note that CHANCEN will not provide a personal accident cover or medical insurance cover and the Members Affairs is encouraged to secure this independently. Interns will be expected to take up a Personal Accident cover and Medical Insurance cover

Finance & Admin Associate

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

As the Finance and Admin Associate, your role will be to provide finance and administration support to Chancen Kenya, working closely with the Kenya Country Director and the Finance Director in Rwanda. The key role will be the day-to-day financial management, processing invoices and payroll, maintaining a digital record of financial documents as well as undertaking general admin tasks under the guidance of the country director

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in maintaining proper internal controls in line with Chancen International Finance policies
  • Perform bookkeeping work of processing payments, updating financial records, and managing invoices
  • Monitor and control expenses according to the Kenya budget, reviewing expense reports from staff for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with set policies • Review and verify invoices from vendors against supporting documents prior to payment
  • Record invoices in the finance systems (Xero):
    • Ascertain that all taxable business expenses are properly documented
    • The tax paid in the KRA system is aligned with the Xero Payrun calculations
    • Upload Monthly payroll in Xero
    • Prepare and pay Monthly Taxes
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of accounts payable against statements
  • Maintain a proper filing system for all accounting documents
  • Maintain the assets register for the company
  • Preparation of audit schedules and coordinating the audit process for Chancen Kenya for Finance Director/ CFO review
  • Participate in CHANCEN Kenya team meetings and contribute to its strategy and activities
  • Maintain external relationships with service providers to ensure the efficiency of the office systems, supplies, premises and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all regulators both local and international
  • Ensure tracking of all regulatory licenses and proper timely renewal for those due
  • Filing of all statutory reports with respective government agencies, including annual company reports done by the company secretary
  • Support the Country Project Manager on management and tracking of country compliance register
  • Perform payroll management with guidance from Country Project Manager
  • Perform all administrative work and any other duties that may be assigned by management. Management of petty cash
  • Recording monthly payments received from Chancen Members in Salesforce and Xero;
  • Working closely with the member affairs team and providing the payments report from Salesforce;

ELIGIBILITY

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related fieldCertified Public Accountant with a minimum of Section 3 or ACCA equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years’ work experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working with an accounting software, preferably Xero
  • Analytical, process oriented, attention to detail, reliability and high standards of performance
  • Ability to communicate accurately, clearly, and effectively in written and spoken English
  • Positive and can-do attitude
  • Strong accounting knowledge and operating capacity
  • Right to live and work in Kenya

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

  • As a Data Analyst Senior Associate, you will play a key role in analyzing complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive business decisions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams (Heads of Department) to identify opportunities that will drive business growth and improve efficiency.
  • The role needs a high level of experience in database administration, report development, data issue resolution, and all elements of data analytics, such as mining, creation, and visualization, as well as a thorough understanding of common data analysis tools and databases.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work directly with Heads of Departments and Users to gather requirements and prioritize data-driven projects that align with business goals.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using data visualization tools for clear communication.
  • Create detailed documentation of methodologies, processes, and findings to support transparency and knowledge sharing.
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions to enhance data literacy and the use of data in decision-making among employees as well as training on new reports and dashboards
  • Proactively analyze data to answer key questions for stakeholders or yourself, with an eye on what drives business performance, and investigate and communicate which areas need improvement in efficiency and productivity through analysis of complex datasets
  • Perform quarterly general system data audits, pre-graduation data audits, and data audits for the new intake, and share reports with the hierarchical supervisor. Analyze member journey data to provide information for organizational learning and opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions/improvement of operations
  • Ensure systems and reporting structures provide appropriate portfolio and impact information and performance outputs to all levels of management.
  • Perform the role of database administration of the Core Banking System and User support.
  • Support the Partnership Department with ISA calculations and repayment analysis
  • Work on technical research projects, supporting the design of research studies, and survey instruments, and developing data monitoring systems in collaboration with the relevant departments.

 Educational Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or in other related fields

Technical Skills, Competencies, and Experience

  • Proven working experience of at least 3-5 years as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst and knowledge of Database Administration.
  • Knowledge of system reports design and development using reporting packages (SAP Crystal Reports, Powerbi, Tableau,R, etc),
  • Strong knowledge of using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy Knowledge about the RDBMS systems especially Oracle Database
  • Knowledge of structured query language (SQL)
  • Programming experience in (XML, Javascript, Python, or ETL frameworks) would be an added value.
  • Technical expertise in data models, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques
  • High-level experience in methodologies and processes for managing and handling large data sets and relational databases.
  • Strong experience in Data cleaning and Predictive Modeling
  • Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide software solution recommendations.
  • Ability to understand and manage stakeholder requests including ensuring a clear understanding of the ask and working with the wider team to ensure this is properly captured, impacted, and assessed
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and ability to take the initiative and ownership to deliver value to the business
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
