ICT Officer

JOB OBJECTIVE

  • The job holder will be responsible for providing ICT support and security services to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of KCA University’s ICT infrastructure, networks, information systems, data, and automated business processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain computing systems (hardware, software, and networks) and data communication systems.
  • Undertake preventive maintenance and repair of ICT equipment.
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware compatibility issues and ensure all failed computer products and processes are identified and solved.
  • Troubleshoot, analyse and repair computing elements such as desktop computers, laptops and various components/peripherals in IT networks.
  • Initiate the procurement process for the required ICT equipment by providing equipment specifications for different university units/departments.
  • Obtain, set and install computer software for ICT training laboratories to enable users to perform their activities effectively.
  • Assist the ICT Trainers and Computer Technologists in carrying out laboratory/workshop activities to support learning in the University.
  • Install and configure Enterprise Resource and planning software system for university computers.
  • Distribute procured ICT equipment to departments/campuses and ensure equitable and effective use of ICT resources.
  • Manage ICT equipment inventory by updating the database regularly and recommending upgrades, identifying and reporting any losses.
  • Manage and track user work tickets to ensure proper use of university resources and assets.
  • Install and configure antivirus software and manage the antivirus server software to combat new viruses and protect university computers and information from any vulnerability.
  • Prepare reports on conditions of ICT equipment within the University and submit them for decision-making.
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering or related technology field from an accredited/recognised institution.
  • ICT security professional certification, e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA, etc.
  • Five (5) years’ work experience from an institution of higher learning or a large commercial enterprise.
  • Experience in the following areas will be an added advantage:
    • Configuring Cyberoam UTM firewalls and Microsoft Active Directory
    • Managing, administration, setup, and installation of examination systems

Academic Quality Assurance Officer

JOB OBJECTIVE

  • The job holder will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of academic quality assurance systems, policies, and procedures to ensure the University delivers high-quality academic programs in compliance with national and international standards and in line with the University’s vision and Mission.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate internal and external quality assurance processes for academic programs (approval, review, accreditation, and self-assessment audits).
  • Monitor the implementation of curriculum delivery and assessment in line with approved standards and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with guidelines from regulatory and accreditation bodies (e.g. CUE, TVETA, KNQA).
  • Contribute to the development, review and implementation of academic quality assurance policies, procedures and manuals.
  • Advise academic departments on quality assurance matters and good practices.
  • Design and implement academic quality audit tools and performance indicators.
  • Collect and analyse data on academic performance, student feedback, graduate tracer studies, and other quality metrics.
  • Organise training workshops and sensitisation sessions for faculty and staff on quality assurance principles, standards, and processes.
  • Prepare periodic quality assurance reports for internal use and for submission to regulators and stakeholders.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of academic audits, reviews, and quality enhancement activities.
  • Support institutional self-assessments, benchmarking exercises, and preparations for institutional audits or reviews.
  • Participate in national and international quality assurance networks and collaborations.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Master’s degree in Education, Quality Assurance, Curriculum Development or a related field from an accredited/recognised institution.
  • 3–5 years’ work experience in quality assurance, academic administration or higher education policy.
  • Familiarity with university regulatory frameworks and accreditation requirements in Kenya or the relevant context.
