Intern – Internal Auditor

Background

  • For better execution of its mandate, the Council of Governors is established in various sectorial working Committees and Departments. To enable the Council achieve its mandate and vision, the Council wishes to recruit an Intern to support the Internal Audit Department at the Council:

Scope of Assignments

  • Reporting to the Internal Auditor, the intern will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Assist in carrying out internal audit assignments as outlined in the audit plan in compliance with auditing standards.
  • Assist in gathering, collating, and analyzing data on financial records, systems, and processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of funds utilization.
  • Assist in collecting data on periodical financial returns, estimates, and expenditures.
  • Ensure all information is filled, updated, and readily available as and when required
  • Compile working papers and prepare audit draft report(s) with findings and recommendations where necessary.
  • Assist in preparing working papers and audit reports in line with quality standards;
  • Assist in daily tasks and departmental projects under supervision
  • Performing any other duty as assigned by the supervisor.

Duration of the assignment

  • The internship duration is for six (6) months.

Required Qualifications

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Commerce or Law;
  • Have a minimum of CPA Part 2 qualification
  • Certificate in Computer applications.
  • Experienced in undertaking comprehensive research;
  • Outstanding Interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills;
  • Ability to follow deadlines, accuracy, and attention to detail;
  • A high level of computer literacy and proficiency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili; and
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Intern – HR & Administration

Background.

For better execution of its mandate, the Council of Governors is established in various sectorial working Committees and Departments. To enable the Council to achieve its mandate and vision, the Council wishes to recruit an Intern to support the HR and Administration Department at the Council:

 Scope of Assignments

  • Reporting to the Manager, HR & Administration, the intern will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the HR, Admin functions and duties at the Council
  • Assist in providing clerical and administrative support in the Human Resources Unit;
  • Assist in processing documentation and preparation of reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations etc.);
  • Ensure easy access to HR Committee updates, reports, and bills and ensure that the relevant parties have updated information.
  • Assist in compiling Committee minutes and reports, and output from meetings;
  • Assist in any responsibility related to the Human Resource, Labour, and Social Welfare Committee;
  • Assist in convening and taking minutes for Human Resource, Labour, and Social Welfare Committee meetings;
  • Assist in welcoming and greeting guests, visitors, staff, and the general public visiting the Council;
  • Assist in responding to questions from guests, visitors, and the general public, and making appropriate referrals;
  • Assist in operating the telephone switchboard, answering and redirecting all incoming telephone calls including answering all incoming caller’s inquiries appropriately;
  • Timely retrieval of files, correspondences, and other documents;
  • Performing any other duty as assigned by the supervisor.

Duration of the assignment

  • The internship duration is for six (6) months.

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field;
  • Certificate in Computer applications.
  • Experienced in undertaking comprehensive research;
  • Outstanding Interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills;

  • A high level of computer literacy and proficiency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili; and

Legal Intern

Background

For better execution of its mandate, the Council of Governors is established in various sectorial working Committees and Departments. To enable the Council achieve its mandate and vision, the Council wishes to recruit an Intern to support the Legal Department at the Council:

Scope of Assignments

Reporting to the Legal Officer, the intern will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitoring Bills from the Senate and National Assembly;
  • Assist in monitoring the Hansard and Order Papers at the Senate and the National Assembly;
  • Assist in monitoring the Kenya Gazette;
  • Assist in coordinating logistics in the Legal and other COG meetings;
  • Assist in following up on actions pursuant to meetings, MOUs, Legal deeds, and annual returns;
  • Ensure up to date documentation of important Legal paperwork;
  • Research and prepare Legal briefs on Legal issues confronted in the Council;
  • Compile any required information and maintain documentation;
  • Assist in convening and taking minutes for the bi-weekly Committee meetings;
  • Assist in research on contemporary issues regarding Planning, Budgeting, Accounting, Monitoring and evaluation;
  • Assist in preparation of press statements in conjunction with the Communication Department;
  • Assist in tracking of the media reports on the Legal matters and developing a status update matrix on the decisions taken from time to time on the issues highlighted;
  • Maintaining and providing access to statutory registers for the supervisor;
  • Support in the implementation of the Legal Department workplan;
  • Performing any other duty as assigned by supervisor.

Duration of the assignment

  • The internship duration is for a period of six (6) months.

 Required Qualifications

  • Have a Bachelor Degree in Law;
  • Certificate in Computer applications.
  • Experienced in undertaking comprehensive research;
  • Outstanding Interpersonal, analytical and communication skills;
  • Ability to follow deadlines, accuracy and attention to detail;
  • A high level of computer literacy and proficient in written and spoken
  • English and Kiswahili; and
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
