Boiler Operators at Kinangop Dairy Limited
Job Purpose
In this role, Boiler Operators at Kinangop Dairy Limited will constantly check boiler operations including steam pressures, water levels, ID/FD fan performance, water softener performance, steam leaks when present (for repair) and ensure that steam supply to process is maintained for all factory operations requiring steam to run smoothly. This is by ensuring that the boiler fuel is fed constantly at the right
intervals.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Maintain an in depth knowledge of the condition of the Boiler and related equipment on a continuous basis.
- Follow up preventive maintenance and annual shutdown schedules for boilers by timely
execution. - Boiler operators constantly inspect water, gas, and other fluid levels inside boilers and
related equipment, making adjustments to fluids as necessary to keep systems operating
at peak levels. - Replace defective valves, gauges, and other boiler parts as needed.
- Repair piping gaskets, valves, and other boiler machinery as needed.
- Adjust valves and boiler controls as needed to control the amount of pressure in the
system and keep the boiler system functioning safely. - Keep all boiler rooms, related facilities, and work areas clean and organized at all times.
- Boiler operators read and follow blueprints, operations manuals, and instructions to
perform scheduled maintenance and make repairs to boiler systems. - Carry out first level inspections on all Electrical and mechanical for the boiler and related
equipment in the Factory. - Performs on shift duties for Boiler operations.
- Other duties and assignments as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least a Diploma/Certificate in boiler operations with a minimum experience of 2 years in boiler operations in a busy dairy/manufacturing industry.
- Ability to operate the boilers with minimum supervision.
- Experience in Horizontal fire tube boilers will be an added advantage.
- Good Preventive Maintenance and shutdown planning skills.
