IT Officer Intern at Luton Hospital

The IT Officer Intern at Luton Hospital will be responsible for maintaining and improving existing systems and provision of ICT technical support to users (Clinical and administrative operations).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and training to hospital staff/end user, including troubleshooting hardware, software issues.
  • Helping with basic IT-related inquiries to enhance staff IT literacy and proficiency.
  • Installation, configuration, maintaining and troubleshooting the hospital’s computer network (LAN/WAN), including setting up and configuring network equipment, ensuring network security,
    and addressing connectivity issues.
  • Help with the installation, maintenance, and repair of computer hardware, such as desktops, laptops, printers, IP Phones, and other peripherals.
  • Assist with the ongoing IT projects, which could include system upgrades, software implementations, or other technology initiatives.
  • Follow established procedures, policies & guidelines for IT service delivery, incident management, and problem resolution.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, trends, and bes practices in the healthcare IT industry.
  • Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance technical skills.
  • Adhere to security protocols and guidelines when handling sensitive patient information.
  • Report any security incidents or data breaches to the IT Manager immediately.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and efficiency gains within the IT environment.
  • Involve in preventive maintenance of ICT Equipment regularly.
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned by the supervisor from time to time

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diploma/ BSC of Sciences Information Technology, computer science or related disciplines
  • Must be available full time for the six-month duration of the program.
  • Must have graduated with a first Degree or Diploma from a recognized institution within the last 2 years
  • Knowledge of network and system security
  • Familiarity with hardware and software installation
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

Experience:

  • 1 +years’ work experience.

Technical skills/Leadership competencies:

  • Proficient in computer application packages, systems and software
  • Proficient in Helpdesk and Technical Support
  • Proficient in Windows and Linux Operating Systems, Server administration, Network monitoring and Cyber security
  • Effective communication both oral and written
  • Professional, Proactive, Responsive and Alert
