Sponsored training opportunities for upgrading diploma in community health nursing (distance learning) 2025/2026 academic year under the KMTC/UNHCR and the County Government of Turkana program. Sponsored Training Opportunities at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC)

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), in collaboration with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and the County Government of Turkana, is offering training opportunities for the Upgrading Diploma course in Community Health
Nursing (Distance Learning) commencing September 2025 in the 2025/2026 academic year.

The training Scholarship will target the local community in Turkana County and the Refugee community in Kakuma and Kolobeyei Refugee Camps. The training will be offered at Lodwar Campus, and the UNHCR will provide full tuition to the successful candidates who meet the following criteria.

  1. Mandatory requirements for Upgrading Diploma in Community Health Nursing (Distance Learning):

Course: Upgrading Diploma in Certificate in Community Health Nursing (Distance Learning)

Specific Minimum Entry Requirements

Duration: 2 Years

Campus: Lodwar

      • Certificate in Community Health Nursing
      • 2 years working experience post certificate course
      • Registration by the Nursing Council of Kenya

2. Must be from Turkana County or the Kakuma/Kalobeyei Refugee Camps
3. Have a letter of introduction from the area Chief (for local applicants) or a manager/UNHCR official in the Kakuma/Kalobeyei refugee Camps
4. Applications should be made to the Chief Executive Officer, KMTC through the KMTC application portal, on or before 9th October 2025.

Creating an account – Requirements for creating a new account (Use valid personal email address. If you don’t have an email address, you can easily create one before you continue with the application process).

Apply on or before 9th October 2025.

If you have registered an account, log in using your email and password

If you do not have an account, click on the Register button on the top right-hand corner

This will take you to the create account form. Enter your name, email address, and password (put a password that you can easily remember)

Click on the Create Account Button

Fill in the online application form step by step until it is duly filled

Click on the SUBMIT button

You will be provided with the duly filled form to confirm your data

Check the accuracy of the information

Once satisfied that the information is correct, click Save changes

On the dashboard, click on the ‘Apply UNHCR Scholarship’

Fill in the required information, review the UNHCR form

Print out the duly completed form, attach relevant documents, have it signed and stamped accordingly and upload in the portal.

NOTE: For applicants from Kakuma and Kolobeyei refugee camps – when filling the biodata under NATIONALITY, capture your Country of origin and under COUNTY, SUB COUNTY AND CONSTITUENCY choose the option FOREIGN.
