Director Environmental Services

Job Responsibilities
- Coordinating development and review of policies, strategies and plans relating to environmental services;
- Spearheading Education for Sustainable Development targeting all learning institutions in Kenya;
- Promoting conservation and sustainable utilization of coastal, terrestrial, marine and fresh water resources, and all fragile and ecologically significant habitats & ecosystems in Kenya;
- Implementing relevant Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAS);
- Coordinating environmental management of aquatic, terrestrial and aerial ecosystems;
- Ensuring conservation and promotion of sustainable utilisation of fresh water resources including lakes, rivers, swamps and dams;
- Provide leadership in formulation/design, development and execution of projects and programmes;
- Coordinating involvement of donors for support in the course of programme/project implementation;
- Developing programme related interventions towards environmental management;
- Supervising implementation of management plans for various ecosystems;
- Offering requisite support to County Environment Committees;
- Coordinating Environmental Planning, Research and Monitoring activities;
- Coordinating the implementation of the directorate’s strategic plan and realization of its objectives;
- Overseeing the implementation of performance appraisal systems and performance contracts for the directorate;
- Ensuring accountability and prudent management of resources and assets and ensuring compliance with principles and values of good governance transparency, accountability, ethics and integrity;

- Ensuring preparation of National Environment Action Plan (NEAP);
- Providing support to Environmental Committees in formulation of action plans
- Mainstreaming environmental concerns in plans, policies and programmes;
- Ensuring strategic dissemination of research findings in collaboration with the Lead Agencies;
- Coordinating preparation of State of Environment Reports (SOE) as per the requirement of EMCA 1999;
- Coordinating and implementing environmental Education and outreach programmes at National and County level;
- Nurturing international links with other environmental training Institutions;
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Community Development, Natural Resource Management, Urban Planning, Environmental Policy, Development Studies, Geo-informatics or any other relevant field from a recognized institution;
- Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Community Development, Natural Resource Management, Urban Planning, Environmental Policy, Development Studies, Geo-informatics or any other relevant field from a recognized institution
- Leadership course lasting not less four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
Experience Required
- Minimum 10 year(s) as a Middle-Level Manager in 10 years relevant work experience
- Minimum 5 year(s) as a Senior-Level Manager in 5 years in senior management

Senior Principal Legal/Litigation Officer

Job Responsibilities
- Assisting the Director Legal Services in providing legal advice to the Authority and ensuring integration of environmental concerns into policy and legislation at all levels;
- Assisting the Director Legal Services in facilitating the development of procedures and regulations for effective implementation of the environmental law;
- Implementing law and advising on legal matters; Participating in review of environmental laws in collaboration with other government institutions and stakeholders;
- Offering technical support to field officers in the enforcement of the environmental law;
- Representing the Authority in judicial and quasi-judicial forums;
