Product Development Assistant at Twiga Chemical Industries
The Product Development Assistant at Twiga Chemical Industries – VGS will work closely under the Supervision of the Development Manager-VGS and Marketing Manager-VGS to develop and execute marketing strategies to expand Twiga Vegetable Seed brands market position in Kenya.
Main Purpose of the job:
Product Development Assistant at Twiga Chemical Industries will identify market dynamics and growth opportunities, develop plans to capture them and to successfully implement them. This includes support of key product introductions. The role requires good understanding of the seed market in Kenya, competition and ability to design and implement appropriate demand creation activities for various types of Vegetable seeds.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Product Development-Initiate and manage trials for new seed varieties for commercialization purposes within agreed timelines.
- New markets for existing products-explore, identify and advise on growth opportunities for existing Seed varieties.
- Product Training-Ensure Twiga seeds gain market share by regularly organizing, updating and offering training on various Twiga seed varieties to farmers, Seed stockists,Seedling raisers,Counter staffs, Seed promoters etc.
- Demand Creation-Visit farmers,Seedling Raisers,Seed distributors and Seed stockiest to promote sales of Twiga seed varieties to achieve maximum market penetration within specified timelines.
- Recommend and co-ordinate promotion, marketing and advertising strategies for Twiga seed varieties e.g. Launches, exhibitions, field days, demonstrations etc.
- Identify and work closely with Seedling raisers across the country and ensure that they are buying our vegetable seeds.Use the Seedling raisers network to reach out to more farmers.
- Collection and preparation of market Data-competition audit, market segmentation, creation of farmer data base for various types of seeds, analysis of customer needs, and define the market for Twiga seeds growth.
- Assist in design and development of product labels/literature and other promotional materials for new products in line with market trends and preferences.
- Timely, accurate and detailed reporting on activities engaged in to the Marketing Manager -VGS and Development Manager-VGS as and when required.
- Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the seed Marketing Manager-VGS and Development Manager-VGS.

- A cheerful, outgoing personality.
- Excellent verbal communication skills esp. ability to speak passionately about Twiga Vegetable seeds.
- A person who respects and follows instructions from the organization
Qualification
- Bsc/Diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture or Seed Science/Technology
- 2 years’ experience in the vegetable seeds industry with related work experience.
- Product and market knowledge and good understanding of the Seeds Industry dynamics and trends.
- Passion for VGS product development and promotion
