Role Summary:

We are looking for caring and smart clinical officers who want to become part of a team of amazing all-around, evidence-based clinical officers. As a clinical officer at Penda Health, you treat patients independently and make your own decisions, with the support of guidelines, technology and clinical mentors.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive and high-quality clinical services including (history taking, examination, and prescription of treatment) to patients.
  • Order investigation and interpretation of results for the diagnosis and explain the results to the patients and the intended treatment.
  • Attend emergencies presenting to the clinic and recommend referrals for cases that cannot be managed.
  • Carry out minor surgical procedures as per Penda’s service schedules.
  • Ensure that all required observations and vitals, prescribed treatment and procedures are carried out and documented on patients’ charts.
  • Create phenomenal patient experiences, including counseling and sensitizing patients through health talks on preventive and promotive health.
  • Embrace, learn and develop in an evidence-based medical system in line with Penda’s developed protocols.
  • You may be assigned additional tasks within the Medical Centre by the branch manager or clinical officer in-charge.
  • Participate in continuous professional development to stay current with advances in medical practices and technology.

Key requirements and attributes

  • 2 years of work experience after internship
  • Registered with Clinical Officers Council and have a valid practicing license
  • Diploma, Higher Diploma or BSC in clinical medicine
  • Valid BLS Certification

Community Oral Health Officer

Role Summary:

The COHO at Penda Health plays a critical role in promoting oral health by providing dental services, patient education on proper oral hygiene, and supporting the dentist with diagnostic and preventive care measures. This position is key to preventing dental diseases and ensuring patients maintain optimal oral health.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct dental examinations and provide treatment for common conditions by providing oral hygiene dental services and supporting the dentist with diagnostic and preventive care measures
  • Develop and implement oral health education initiatives targeted at patients, focusing on preventive care and oral hygiene best practices.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate oral health with overall health strategies, enhancing patient care.
  • Collect, analyse, and report on oral health data to inform service improvements and patient care strategies.
  • Maintain patient records with strict adherence to confidentiality and legal standards.
  • Manage the inventory of dental supplies and ensure the maintenance of dental equipment.
  • Stay updated on advancements in dental practices and technologies, applying best practices to patient care.
  • Ensure strict compliance with infection control protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with the dentists, dental nurses, and other health professionals to provide high quality patient care.
  • Participate in community outreach programs to promote dental health awareness and preventive care.
  • Adhere to all ethical and legal standards of the medical profession, maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by actively participating in clinical audits and implementing best practices.
  • Comply with all healthcare regulations, guidelines, and policies, ensuring patient safety and quality of care.

Key requirements and attributes

  • Diploma in Community Oral Health from a recognized institution.
  • Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a dental clinic.

The Reproductive Health Officer will be responsible for ensuring all reproductive health cases are properly diagnosed, and treated/referred. They will also be responsible for managing the clinic to ensure growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive reproductive health assessments, including medical and sexual history, contraceptive counseling, and STI testing.
  • Provide a wide range of reproductive health services, including contraception management, preconception counseling, and pregnancy options counseling.
  • Coordinate with Penda Health teams to create and implement reproductive health education and promotion programs.
  • Perform routine gynecological exams and screenings, including Pap tests, breast exams, and pelvic exams.
  • Provide support and counseling to patients facing infertility, pregnancy loss, or other reproductive health challenges
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, and comply with all relevant legal and ethical standards related to Clinical documentation, patient confidentiality and privacy at Penda Health
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers, to provide coordinated care to patients and ensure continuity of care.
  • Provide personalized virtual Reproductive health consultations and support in collaboration with Pigia Penda and Medical centers for coordinated Patient care.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the clinic’s reach and ensure its success.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in reproductive health, and participate in ongoing training and professional development activities

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year post training experience in Reproductive Health
  • A Higher National Diploma in Reproductive Health, Comprehensive Reproductive Health or its equivalent.
  • A Basic Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or Bachelor of Clinical medicine and Surgery
  • Strong knowledge and experience in contraception, STI screening and treatment, fertility treatment among other outpatient Reproductive Health procedures
  • Ability to work independently under minimum supervision
