Job Description:
As a Reporter at Africa Uncensored, you will be at the forefront of our mission to uncover and report on the most compelling stories across the continent. You will lead investigative projects, mentor junior reporters, and ensure our reporting maintains the highest standards of accuracy and impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute in-depth investigative journalism projects
- Develop and maintain a network of sources across various sectors

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field

About this role
The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist/Officer is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tools, and systems to assess the performance, impact, and efficiency of programs and projects.
This role ensures that program goals are met, lessons are captured, and data is used to drive decision-making and improve outcomes.
As a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at Africa Uncensored, you will play a critical role in tracking and assessing the impact of our investigative journalism projects. Your expertise will help ensure our work remains effective, impactful, and aligned with our mission to uncover and report on the most compelling stories across the continent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks for investigative journalism projects
- Stakeholder engagement: Actively involving various stakeholders in the planning, implementation, and analysis stages of projects
- Reporting and documentation: collect, analyze, and report data to assess project outcomes and impact
- Design and conduct evaluations, surveys, and other data collection activities
- Provide timely and accurate monitoring and evaluation reports to management
- Capacity building: Collaborate with project teams to identify areas for improvement and ensure continuous learning
- Data collection and analysis, ensuring data quality and integrity throughout all stages of the project life cycle
- Stay up-to-date with best practices in monitoring and evaluation within the journalism sector
Qualifications:
- A relevant bachelor’s degree – Social Sciences, Statistics, Project Management, Economics, International Development, etc.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in similar or related role.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing M&E systems for projects in development, humanitarian, or related sectors.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in statistical tools/software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, Excel, Power BI, etc).
- Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of data management tools and technologies, including online dashboards and mobile data collection platforms.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
